What is Barclays Demo Directory?
Barclays Demo Directory is a free online directory run by Barclays Bank UK PLC (Companies House 09740322) through its Eagle Labs programme. It launched on 30 October 2023, replacing an earlier newsletter version. It is an introduction network: it shows investors which UK businesses are raising money, and any investment is agreed directly with the founder, outside the directory.
Barclays' own site reported that 4,610 founder profiles and 1,114 investors had signed up since launch, as of 31 July 2026 (labs.uk.barclays/demo-directory).
Regulation: not FCA-regulated as a service. Barclays Bank UK PLC is authorised as a bank (FRN 759676), but that doesn't cover introductions.
How does Barclays Demo Directory work?
Founders with a UK business registration apply to list a profile. Barclays assesses applications against its founder guidelines and excludes some sectors, such as crypto and gambling, but it does not verify or endorse any listing. Investors browse the profiles and contact founders; there is no messaging, dealing or payment on the platform.
Barclays charges no fees to founders or investors and takes no equity. Its terms say it will disclose any case where it holds shares in, or has a commercial arrangement with, a featured company.
Who is Barclays Demo Directory for?
Investors must self-certify as sophisticated or professional investors and confirm this again every 12 months. Barclays does not check investors' status, and high-net-worth self-certification is not accepted. The directory is for UK users only.
