Fine wine is one of the older alternative asset classes but one of the least regulated. Platforms serving UK investors range from FCA-authorised marketplaces to unregulated merchants selling en primeur cases under bailment. This directory pulls every wine-investment platform in Other.'s database as of July 2026 into a single table — active ones alongside the notable collapses that have shaped how the market is now viewed.
The Oeno Group administration in early 2025 was the loudest reminder that "wine investment" and "FCA-regulated" are not the same thing: most wine platforms sit outside the perimeter, which means no FSCS protection, no client-money rules, and no ombudsman. See our companion piece The Oeno Group Collapse for what that failure looked like from the investor side.
How This List Was Built
Every platform in the table below is drawn from Other.'s UK alternative investment platform directory as of 2 July 2026. Entries are filtered on asset type and description keywords, then sorted with active platforms first and inactive or wound-up operators shown below with the reason. Inclusion is not endorsement, and absence is not a judgement — please verify each platform's current status directly and consult the FCA Register before committing capital.

What Investors Should Know
FCA status matters more than yields. Most wine platforms are unregulated merchants. That doesn't make them fraudulent, but it does mean the consumer protections you take for granted with an ISA or SIPP aren't there. Check each firm's status on the FCA Register before parting with money.
Illiquidity is real. A wine allocation is not a stock: exiting means finding a buyer through the platform's own brokerage or the secondary trade, and spreads are wide. Assume a five-to-ten-year hold and price accordingly.
Storage and provenance are the asset. The value of an investment case lives in an HMRC-bonded warehouse with unbroken chain of custody. If the platform can't produce warehouse account details in your name, you don't own what you think you own.
Cross-check the vertical. Several wine platforms also sell whisky casks, art fractions or luxury handbags — see our whisky & cask list and art platforms list for the adjacent maps.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is wine investment regulated in the UK?
The wine itself isn't a specified investment under the Financial Services and Markets Act, so most wine merchants operate outside the FCA's perimeter. A minority hold FCA permissions for adjacent activities (client money, arranging deals in investments). Look up each firm on the FCA Register — don't rely on marketing copy.
Do I get FSCS protection on a wine platform?
Generally no. FSCS cover applies to authorised deposit-takers and certain regulated investment activities. Buying investment-grade wine through a merchant sits outside that regime, so if the platform fails, your recourse is against the storage warehouse (for physical wine) and the administrator (for money owed).
How much do you need to start?
Minimums vary widely — from a few hundred pounds on fractional-ownership platforms to £10,000+ on managed-portfolio services. The table above shows each platform's stated minimum as of July 2026.
Disclaimer: This article compiles publicly-available platform information from Other.'s directory as of 2 July 2026. Figures for individual platforms — minimums, fees, FCA status, activity — change frequently and should be verified directly with the platform before you invest. Inclusion is not endorsement, and absence is not a judgement. All alternative investments carry risk, are typically illiquid, and are usually not covered by the FSCS.
