What is BOTS Capital?
BOTS Capital is the trade name of CMS Holding B.V., a financial technology company based in Amsterdam. It describes itself as a technology and analysis platform rather than a traditional asset manager, and states that it is not itself a licensed asset manager or investment adviser.
The business began as BOTS by RevenYOU, a consumer app co-founded by Michiel Stokman and Colin Groos that gave retail users access to automated trading strategies, mainly in crypto-assets. The company dates the idea to 2017 and its registration to 2018; the app launched in 2020 and raised a €13 million Series A from Airbridge Equity Partners in 2021. In June 2026 BOTS Capital announced it would wind down direct crypto services, offering affected customers a transfer to the Dutch platform Finst, and concentrate on fund analysis through its BOTS Selection Framework®.
The company offers three multi-asset funds via the BOTS Capital platform. These are managed by Elite Fund Management B.V. under a European AIFMD licence (AFM register). BOTS Capital provides research and client contact; portfolio management, risk management and compliance sit with the licensed manager.
How does BOTS Capital work?
BOTS Capital's core activity is analysing investment funds, not managing client money directly. Its BOTS Selection Framework® works in six stages: collecting fund data and documentation, due diligence, risk assessment, analysis and assessment, input to portfolio construction, and ongoing monitoring. The company says the model starts from a universe of around 70,000 funds across ten asset classes, from equities and bonds to commodities, real estate and digital assets.
According to the company, AI and data tools are used to process that universe efficiently; its analysts then review the results and how strategies relate to one another within a wider portfolio. Its published materials say risk is assessed before return, with an emphasis on combining different sources of return, such as market-neutral, arbitrage and relative-value strategies.
The output is used in two ways: as research for the investment process of the three funds, run by the separate licensed manager, which retains responsibility for portfolio management; and in The Analysis, a free monthly publication on teams, strategies and market themes the model has identified.
What does BOTS Capital offer?
Based on its own disclosures, the company's activities fall into five areas:
- Fund analysis: developing and running the BOTS Selection Framework®, its in-house model for assessing and monitoring funds.
- Multi-asset funds: three fund products, managed by Elite Fund Management B.V. under a European AIFMD licence.
- Research publishing: The Analysis, a free monthly email, plus articles, the Dutch-language podcast Slim Beleggen and investor events in the Netherlands.
- Research support: analysis supplied to the investment process of the three funds.
- Professional introductions: the company says it can introduce professional investors and family offices to fund teams identified through its analysis.
Terms, costs and eligibility for each fund are set out in its prospectus and key information document, and are outside the scope of this profile.
Who is BOTS Capital for?
BOTS Capital says it focuses on high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs and their holding companies, and families. Its website, publications and investor events are oriented mainly to the Dutch market. It also states that it works with professional investors and family offices through introductions.
That describes the company's intended audience, not investment eligibility. BOTS Capital is not FCA-authorised, and this profile does not establish that its services, or the three funds, are available to UK residents. UK readers should not assume FCA, Financial Services Compensation Scheme or Financial Ombudsman Service protection for any related activity. Eligibility in any country is determined by the legal entities concerned and their official documentation.

What stands out, and what to weigh against it
Disclosed separation of roles. The company publishes a three-layer structure (platform, licensed manager, separate fund entities) and names the independent depositary, administrator and auditor appointed by the manager.
Experience with systematic strategies. Several years of running automated strategies for a large retail user base (100,000+ customers, company-reported), through volatile crypto and interest-rate markets, give practical exposure to how systematic approaches behave under stress.
Published methodology and free research. Its six-stage framework, asset-class coverage and risk-first approach are described publicly, and its monthly research is free, so readers can review the approach before any commercial contact.
Model risk. AI-supported screening depends on data quality and historical fund records, which may not reflect future conditions. The models themselves are not published and could not be independently tested.
Entity distinction. BOTS Capital holds no licence of its own as a manager or adviser; a former registration with De Nederlandsche Bank ended in 2026, according to the company. Regulatory protections attach to the licensed manager and the funds, not to BOTS Capital. The manager, Elite Fund Management B.V., is supervised by the AFM and DNB.
Business in transition. The company moved from a consumer crypto app to fund analysis between 2023 and 2026, so its current model has a short operating record. Its Trustpilot profile (4.1 out of 5 from 1,143 reviews, 28% one-star, checked 22 October 2026) mainly reflects the former app.
Jurisdiction. It is a Netherlands-based business under Dutch law and supervision, with no UK authorisation. Alternative funds are generally higher risk and less liquid than mainstream investments, and UK compensation schemes should not be assumed to apply.
