What was MoneyThing?
MoneyThing Capital Limited (FRN 703549) was an FCA-authorised asset-backed peer-to-peer lending platform that ceased trading around 2020. The platform offered investors access to loans secured against tangible business assets, property, and other collateral, with a focus on asset-backed lending rather than unsecured business loans.
MoneyThing positioned itself as a transparent platform, publishing detailed information about each loan and its securing assets. The platform attracted a loyal investor community but ultimately could not sustain operations at viable scale.
How did MoneyThing work?
MoneyThing operated a manual-selection P2P model where investors chose individual loans secured against specific assets including property, plant and machinery, vehicles, and other business assets. Each loan was individually listed with details of the securing asset, valuation, and terms.
What did MoneyThing offer?
MoneyThing is no longer operational. When active, the platform offered asset-backed loans with returns typically in the range of 7–10% per annum, secured against a variety of tangible assets.
Who was MoneyThing for?
MoneyThing is no longer accepting new investors or investments. The platform's closure reflects the broader consolidation of the UK P2P sector, where smaller platforms struggled to achieve the scale needed for commercial viability under enhanced FCA regulation.
