Wellesley & Co
Former property-backed P2P lending and mini-bond issuer that entered administration in 2020 following FCA intervention. No longer accepting investments.
General Information
Wellesley & Co Limited (FRN 631197) was an FCA-authorised peer-to-peer lending and mini-bond issuer founded in 2013. The platform offered property-backed loans and fixed-rate bonds to retail investors, reporting cumulative lending of approximately £600 million before its collapse.
In 2020, the company entered administration following an FCA investigation into the firm's financial promotions and business practices. The FCA had previously imposed requirements on the firm restricting its ability to issue new mini-bonds to retail investors. Wellesley & Co is no longer operational and is not accepting investments.
Investors who held mini-bonds or P2P loans at the time of administration face potential losses, with recovery dependent on the administration process and underlying asset realisations.
How does it work?
Wellesley & Co operated a dual model: a P2P lending platform matching investors with property-backed loans, and a mini-bond programme issuing fixed-rate securities backed by pools of property loans. The platform sourced bridging and development loans secured against UK residential and commercial property.
What do they offer?
Wellesley previously offered two investment formats: direct P2P property-backed loans with monthly interest payments, and fixed-rate mini-bonds (typically 3–5 year terms) paying annual interest. Minimum investments started from approximately £100 for P2P and £1,000 for mini-bonds.
These products are no longer available. Outstanding positions are being administered through the insolvency process.
Who is it for?
Wellesley & Co is no longer operational. The platform entered administration in 2020 following FCA intervention. This profile is maintained for historical reference. Investors with outstanding positions should contact the administrators directly for updates on recovery prospects.
